Providing day to day care

Our respite care service provides support for families when they feel they need a break, become ill, have to go into hospital, they are unable to carrying out the care and support duties for a loved one for any reason.

In these cases Preferred Home care Services will provide trained and the experienced care workers who will look after the family member or loved one, providing day to day requirements in terms of personal care, meal provision, medication and in other ways, such as cleaning, shopping, laundry provision etc.
Before a respite service starts, a meeting will be arranged during which an experienced member of staff meets with the service user’s and their representative or loved one (if applicable) to obtain the requisite information to ensure that we obtain a good understanding of the care and support to be provided and the best way of looking after the service user’s.

The aim of our respite service is to allow family member to recharge or tend to their own matters, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is being looked after by one of our friendly carers. Respite for carers can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks away from the role, enabling them to return to caring feeling refreshed and in better condition physically and mentally.
